Terms of service

These terms are a binding agreement covering your use of Solv Personal. Solv Personal is currently operated by Mahdi Ahmed, an individual developer in Minnesota, not by a registered company — "we," "us," and "Solv" below refer to that developer. By creating an account and accepting these terms you agree to all of them, including the arbitration and class-action waiver in "Resolving disputes." If anything here is unclear, the Contact screen in Settings reaches us directly.

Who this is

Solv Personal is an independent, individually-operated app. It is not a bank, is not affiliated with your bank, is not a money transmitter, and is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax preparer, or credit counselor. It reads your transaction history (read-only, through Plaid) to build dashboards and reports; it never initiates a transfer, payment, or any change to your accounts.

Solv Personal is operated from Minnesota and offered only to users in the United States.

This is a closed test, not a finished product

You are using an early-stage product under active development, distributed to a small invited group, before any full external security audit. Bugs, incomplete features, wrong numbers, missed transactions, misclassified merchants, and downtime are all more likely during this phase than they will be later, and you should expect them.

There is no service level commitment of any kind during testing. We may change, suspend, restart, or discontinue Solv Personal — in whole or in part, with or without notice — and we may reset, migrate, or delete test data, including your account and its history, at any time. Where it is practical to warn you first, we will.

Treat Solv's dashboards, reports, emailed summaries, and any AI-generated text as informational only. Always verify important numbers against your bank or card issuer directly. Do not rely on Solv as your system of record, and do not rely on it for filing taxes, substantiating a deduction, applying for credit, or any other purpose where an error would cost you something.

Free during testing

Solv Personal is free to use during this testing phase. There is no subscription, no trial that converts, and no payment method on file.

We will not charge you anything without first giving you clear, advance notice of the price and terms and obtaining your separate, affirmative agreement to them. Accepting these terms today does not enroll you in any future paid plan or authorize any future charge.

What Solv claims, and what it refuses to claim

Solv reports; it does not advise. Every figure and every finding in the app is derived from your own transaction history through arithmetic or pattern detection over that history. The app is built around a fixed, internal list of the claim types it is permitted to make, and claims that cannot be proven from transaction data alone — for example, whether you actually use a subscription, or whether a bill is priced fairly against the market — are deliberately excluded from the product.

This is a design constraint, not a guarantee of accuracy. Categorization, recurring-charge detection, projections, and anomaly flags are all estimates produced by automated rules and, in some cases, by an AI model. They can be wrong. Projections describe a pace, not a prediction, and nothing in the app is a forecast of your future finances.

Not financial, tax, or legal advice

Nothing in Solv Personal is financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and nothing in it constitutes a recommendation to take or avoid any specific action. Solv is not a substitute for an accountant, a financial adviser, or any other licensed professional.

Decisions about your money are yours alone. You are solely responsible for any action you take or decline to take based on what you see in Solv, and for verifying any figure before you act on it. Consult a licensed professional for advice specific to your situation.

Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to use Solv Personal. Access during testing is by invitation, and we may revoke an invitation at any time.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials and any two-factor authentication method secure, and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access — you can revoke it yourself at any time from Settings → Security ("sign out of all other devices").

You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account, to connect only financial accounts that belong to you or that you are authorized to access, and not to use anyone else's identity or financial accounts without their permission.

Acceptable use

Use Solv Personal only for your own personal financial management. Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the app, its data, or its infrastructure; do not use the app for any unlawful purpose; do not resell or redistribute access; and do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or probe the service or the third-party services it depends on.

We may suspend or terminate access for any account that violates these terms or that we reasonably believe poses a security risk to Solv, to our providers, or to other users.

Your feedback

We want your feedback, and this phase exists to collect it. If you send us ideas, bug reports, suggestions, screenshots, or any other feedback about Solv Personal, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use it for any purpose, including building it into the product, without any obligation to compensate, credit, or notify you.

Please do not send us feedback that you consider confidential or that you are not free to share. Feedback you send is not treated as your confidential information.

Third-party services

Solv Personal depends on third-party providers to function: Plaid (bank connectivity), Resend (email delivery), Anthropic (merchant classification and optional AI-written summaries), PostHog (product analytics), and our hosting and database providers. Solv does not control these services and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security practices, or acts and omissions.

Your use of bank connectivity is also governed by Plaid's own end user terms and privacy policy, which apply directly between you and Plaid. Data that reaches Solv depends entirely on what your bank makes available through Plaid; gaps, delays, duplicates, and errors in that data are outside our control.

Intellectual property

Solv Personal's design, code, branding, report formats, and content belong to its developer. You are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose during the testing period. Nothing here grants you any right in Solv's underlying software or branding.

You retain all rights to your own data. Connecting a bank account or using the app does not transfer ownership of your financial data to Solv.

Disclaimer of warranties

SOLV PERSONAL IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that any defect will be corrected, or that any figure, category, recurring charge, projection, or finding will be complete, current, or accurate. Bank data, third-party services, and automated categorization can all introduce errors outside our control. You accept that risk by using a product that is openly labeled as being in testing.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOLV AND ITS DEVELOPER WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, SAVINGS, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, OR FOR ANY FINANCIAL LOSS, TAX PENALTY, OVERDRAFT, MISSED PAYMENT, OR DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON THE APP — ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE SOLV PERSONAL, UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100) OR THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. During the free testing period, that amount is $100.

These limits apply even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or gross negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Solv and its developer from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the app, your violation of these terms, your violation of any law, or your violation of any third party's rights — including connecting a financial account you were not authorized to connect.

Termination

You may stop using Solv Personal and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting revokes your bank connection at Plaid, erases the personal information on your account, and signs you out everywhere. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is erased and the little that is kept.

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time and for any reason, including ending the testing program, discontinuing the service, addressing a security concern, or a violation of these terms. Where it is practical to give notice first, we will.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination do survive it — including "Your feedback," "Intellectual property," "Disclaimer of warranties," "Limitation of liability," "Indemnification," "Resolving disputes," and "Governing law and venue."

Resolving disputes

Talk to us first. Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us through the Contact screen in Settings or at mahdiahmed.official@gmail.com and describe the problem, and to give us 60 days to resolve it informally. Most issues end here.

Binding individual arbitration. If we cannot resolve it informally, you and Solv agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these terms or to Solv Personal will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. Arbitration will take place in Minnesota or, at your election, remotely or in the county where you live. The arbitrator, not a court, decides all issues relating to the scope and enforceability of this agreement to arbitrate. YOU AND SOLV ARE EACH GIVING UP THE RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY.

Small claims carve-out. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, if it qualifies. Either of us may also seek injunctive relief in court for infringement or misuse of intellectual property.

Class-action waiver. YOU AND SOLV AGREE TO BRING CLAIMS ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any form of representative proceeding. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, then that claim — and only that claim — will be severed and heard in court, and the rest of this section still applies.

How to opt out. You can opt out of arbitration and the class-action waiver without affecting anything else in these terms. Email mahdiahmed.official@gmail.com with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out," including your name and the email address on your account, within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Opting out has no effect on your access to Solv Personal, and we will not treat you differently for doing it.

Governing law and venue

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, regardless of where you live or use the app.

For any matter not subject to arbitration, you and Solv consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Minnesota.

Assignment and transfer

You may not assign or transfer these terms or your account to anyone else.

We may assign these terms, and transfer your account and associated data, to a successor entity — including a limited liability company or other business entity formed by the developer to operate Solv Personal, or an acquirer of the app or its assets — without your further consent. Your rights under these terms are unaffected by such a transfer, and the successor entity becomes "Solv" for all purposes here. We will tell you when this happens.

Electronic communications

You consent to receive all notices, agreements, disclosures, and other communications from us electronically — by email to the address on your account, or through the app — and you agree that these satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.

Keep your email address current; a notice sent to the address on file counts as delivered. Some emails are transactional (a welcome message, password resets, security alerts, connection problems, and notice of a change to these documents) and cannot be turned off while your account is active. Report summary emails start switched on and can be turned off individually, at any time, from Settings → Notifications or from the unsubscribe link in any of them.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Solv Personal moves out of testing, as the product changes, and when the app transfers to a company. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

Material changes will be surfaced in-app or by email, not just posted silently. In practice we email you a plain-language summary of what actually changed — a diff is not a summary, and "the terms changed, go read four thousand words" is the silent posting this exists to replace. You will not be asked to re-accept every revision; agreeing once, when you sign up, covers the agreement as it is updated. Where a change is significant enough that it needs your agreement rather than your awareness — a change to how disputes are resolved, for example — we will ask you to accept the new version before you continue. If you don't accept, you can delete your account at any time from Settings.

The rest of the fine print

Severability. If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions stay in full force.

No waiver. If we don't enforce a provision, that isn't a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Solv regarding Solv Personal, and they supersede any prior understanding on the subject.

Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages at Plaid, your bank, or our hosting providers.

No third-party beneficiaries. These terms don't create rights for anyone other than you and Solv.
